What’s next for voice & video comms?

You’d have to have been living in a cave to miss the explosive innovation that has occurred within voice and video communications in recent years. But what’s next?

WhatsApp, for example, has grown to a chat app with 1.2 billion users – and counting! But the tool isn’t just utilised to send 42 billion free instant messages each day. 100 million voice calls and 55 million video calls are made on a daily basis too – numbers that are continually mounting. The communications power of WhatsApp is undeniable.;

But by no means is this a one-horse race. The market is crowded with a number of different applications including Facebook Messenger, Apple’s FaceTime, Google Duo, Viber and, of course, the brand that first started to bridge the communications gap – Skype. There’s something for everyone.

Except, perhaps, businesses.

Web RTC (Real Time Communications) has been commonplace in consumer tech for some time, however providers have been comparatively slower to adapt in the world of industry. There has long been a market gap for a reliable, secure and accountable solution away from the social space.

Until now.

‘Friends’ and followers of Vapour may have noticed our talking about Höllr recently and there has certainly been a buzz surrounding the launch of this product. Why? Because in introducing Höllr to the market, we’ve become one of the first companies to utilise Web RTC to power a commercial product.

Now, businesses can make secure, encrypted voice calls from any device in the world, with those calls also being recorded and reported upon too. This is particularly crucial for firms that rely on data-driven decision-making (we are all becoming more aware of how machine learning is dominating the headlines at the moment).

The list of features and benefits goes on – OPEX-friendly cloud models, low fee cost-per-user contracts, call redirection, CRM integration and one-click disaster recovery, to name just a few.

This product won’t just sit still either. Soon it will be possible to further break down the barriers of time, format and location with a commercial video solution that boasts the same security and reporting benefits. Gone will be the days of dodgy Skype connections, conversational delays and a lack of data.
