Vapour’s CEO recognised at entrepreneur evening

Our very own CEO Tim Mercer was one of seven entrepreneurs to be singled out in a 2018 Ernst & Young LLP competition, last week.

A number of businesspeople from throughout the region gathered on Thursday evening for the unveiling of the EY Entrepreneur of the Year North finalist announcement. And we were delighted to learn that Tim was on the list.

But, in truth, the hard work has only just begun.

Tim will now be interviewed by a panel of judges at the EY offices in Manchester, next month. There’ll then be a tense wait until the overall winner is announced at a black-tie dinner at The Lowry, on 28 June. If he is successful, he will then be put forward for additional national recognition in November.

The news follows the announcement last week that Vapour has been shortlisted for a CRN award for our work with bookmaking giant Betfred.

“It’s been quite a whirlwind few weeks,” admitted Tim. “We’re all working extremely hard as enquiries keep coming in for increasingly complex, multichannel cloud tech projects. Our focus is always on the provision of an outstanding service, whether we’re at the tender stage or in the final phase of an implementation. So, when we’re all so busy, external recognition such as this is a welcome reminder that the ongoing effort and investment are worth it.”

“Ernst & Young spoke on the evening about the entrepreneurial community in the North and that is definitely what makes this one of the most exciting places to run a tech business. There’s a real appetite for innovation, collaboration and breaking boundaries. I’m delighted with the finalist announcement and look forward to my grilling in May!”
