The channel is changing. ‘Digital transformation’ is no longer just a buzzword, and clients are now demanding cloud-first technologies within their business.
But Vapour has been cloud-first since our inception in 2013. In fact, our company is built on four cornerstones of cloud-first excellence – voice, video, networks and storage. It’s all we know.find out more
It may have taken place virtually this year, but the Northern Tech Awards 2020 did not disappoint.
We tuned in late last month, to learn that Vapour had once again featured in the ‘Top 100 companies’ rundown – this time, appearing at number 34.
Ranking tech firms throughout the North of England and Scotland according to their growth, the 2020 league table highlighted large well-known brands as well as businesses that have flown comparatively under the radar over the last 12 months.
We were delighted to discover that 33 of the 100 hail from Yorkshire, which is a testament to both the calibre of talent and the appetite for innovation, throughout the county.
We were also pleased to hear from the event organisers themselves, that 30 of the Top 100 alumni – including Vapour – are based outside a city centre.
Commenting on this data, Vapour’s CEO Tim Mercer said: “We’ve got a really vibrant tech scene in the North, evidenced – not least – by the fact that listed Northern Tech companies recently outperformed the FTSE!
“It’s great to be a part of this. We’re fortunate to be a stone’s throw away from some extremely exciting creative and digital brands – large and small – who collectively bring a wealth of game-changing opportunities. But our close proximity to some heavyweight cities can bring its challenges too, if I’m honest.
“Leeds, for example, is an incredibly exciting place to be right now, and we’re proud to be based in this city region. But there’s so much going on, that businesses in neighbouring towns have to work especially hard to ensure they’re also heard.
“I want people to know that there’s a massive pot of talent that sits outside the ‘sexy’ cities of Leeds and Manchester. You’ll find it all the way along the M62 corridor, up into North Yorkshire, Newcastle and beyond. In fact, right now, it’s more dispersed than ever as most people are working from home!
“So yes, we’re delighted to appear in the Northern Tech 100. And we’re equally as happy that there are 29 other brands in there – including a couple very close to us in Kirklees and Calderdale – that are also based outside a city. It shows that we must deservedly keep banging our drums too, as there are some really cool businesses around, doing a lot to disrupt the status quo.”
Sharing a final thought about Vapour’s number 34 achievement, Tim said: “I’m extremely proud of our team’s continued growth performance – even during lockdown! Linked to my previous point, we’re continually working hard to make Vapour an attractive company to be a part of – for colleagues, customers and partners alike. We constantly strive to push beyond our limits – just watch…”
