Vapour hit the headlines last Autumn when our healthtech innovation TeleDOC was launched at the Innovation & Disruption event in Leeds.
The first video tool of its kind for the UK healthcare sector – powered by a free, simple SMS, and with WebRTC at its heart –TeleDOC enables GPs and other medical professionals to hold secure, encrypted, recordable, geo-tagged video calls with their patients, wherever they are located, on any device.
With no username, password or app required – only two clicks to authorise the camera – the result is maximum ease of use, enabling the appointment to be carried out in much the same way as a face-to-face scenario. The patient also has the appointment with their own GP, rather than a stranger.
And this month, we’ve learned that our pioneering consultation tool has been independently recognised for the boundaries it is breaking, as TeleDOC has appeared in the Healthtech Innovators 101 list, in association with Business Cloud.
Commenting on the news, COO Andy Nash said: “This is not the first time that video technology has been utilised within the healthcare sector, but existing solutions are either cost prohibitive, require tech know-how that would put some patients at a disadvantage, and/or they require the appointment to take place with a stranger, which can be off-putting for some individuals who would wish to confide in a GP they know and trust.
“The development of TeleDOC sums up our goal as a business – to put the ‘customer’ at the heart of everything and improve their experience through carefully-considered, effortlessly simple tech that truly does the job it is intended to do. We’re delighted to have been listed in the Healthtech Innovators line-up, alongside some very prestigious company!”
