Having begun his career in the armed forces, Tim is perhaps not your average tech entrepreneur. But his first-hand experience of the importance of communication, camaraderie and integrity is the driving force behind Vapour’s entire market proposition – not to mention its enviable culture.
Now an award-winning businessman, Tim carved his tech career with roles at IKON, ntl:Telewest and Virgin Media, before selling everything he owned to form Vapour in 2013. Passionate about cloud-first innovation, his goal has always been to deliver high-performance solutions powered by straight-talking personable people.
Having trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young, Vapour’s co-founder Jason gained further industry experience with brands including Rolls Royce, British Nuclear Fuels and telecoms giant Daisy Group. Now, as FD of Vapour, he is wholly responsible for our finance and support functions but maintains an active role throughout all wider areas of the business as the company continues to experience rapid growth.
Andy has over 25 years experience of the communications and technology sector, and was a founder employee of Avaya. As COO, Andy heads up all Operations, Engineering and Tech teams.
After leaving the Royal Navy, he began his love affair with technology as an engineer within Avaya (formerly SDX Business Systems), progressing to the position of Global Services & Support Director. Turning his gaze to new challenges he became Managing Director of a unified voice and data firm, SBL Group, where he spent over two years of his career, before joining the Vapour team.
Now Andy is responsible for spearheading further innovation throughout Vapour’s cloud portfolio, especially within the voice and video product suite.
Referred to by many as the lifeblood of our team, Carol is also ex-Virgin Media and has been with Vapour almost since the beginning. A people-orientated, process-driven customer service specialist, she cares about every project delivery like it is her own. She is Lean Six Sigma accredited which sees her bring out the best in our teams, she is on first name terms with all the major carriers and her wealth of tech sector knowledge means she is a hit with partners and suppliers alike.
Craig is a highly-experienced, multi-skilled and hands on IT professional with a 33-year career – and counting – in this complex space. He has an infectious enthusiasm for devising ‘best of breed’ solutions and has an enviable troubleshooting brain which sees partners continually tap into his knowledge base. Having worked in this environment since he left school, Craig proudly tells people he ‘gets paid to do his hobby!’
With more than 15 years’ experience in the technology sector, Alec began his career as an inbound contact centre agent. He progressed through telemarketing and account executive roles with ntl:Telewest and subsequently Virgin Media, where he first worked with Vapour’s CEO Tim. With field sales, corporate sales, account director, commercial finance management and systems integrations experience, Alec moved on to Redcentric and Exponential-e, until the opportunity arose to join our ever-growing team.
Soon set to celebrate a thirty-year career in the communications sector, Blaine’s first industry role was with BT, where he joined as a graduate and left as channel director in 2005. He has since worked for Virgin Media – in the same team as Vapour’s CEO Tim Mercer – as well as Azzurri Communications, EON UK, GCI, DIVA Telecom and Ricoh UK. Having held a number of senior customer-facing roles, he demonstrates a hands-on commitment to developing relationships, resolving in-life technical faults, and delivering an outstanding level of service, which made him the first choice for this position.
