COO Andrew Nash Features in The Yorkshire Times ’10 in 10′

Andrew Nash recently provided his ’10 in 10′ for The Yorkshire Times. If you missed the article, catch it in full here.

What does a typical working day for you involve?

As the COO of the business I work across all aspects of the company to ensure that it runs smoothly.  There is no such thing as ‘typical’ – one day I could be meeting potential new customers; another day involved in a project.

What makes your company special?

A cliché but the people.  We have an extremely talented bunch of colleagues within Vapour.

Do you have any business rules that you swear by?

Honesty, empowerment and collaboration.

Do you dress up or down for work?

We’re a mixture of both – so is that called “Business Casual”.

What piece of advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?

Go to University.  Growing up I came from an area where University wasn’t on the radar.  I did an Open University degree in Business in later life and loved it; I think the 18-year old me would have really enjoyed that experience.

What’s your favourite Yorkshire venue for an event or team away day?

Having only lived in Yorkshire for 6 months I don’t yet feel qualified to say.  Our company has been invited to several business awards (of which mostly we have won trophies) and we hosted an event in Aspire in Leeds city centre.  They were fun and great nights out with the Vapour Team.

How do you prefer to travel for business?

Train.

What’s your favourite place in Yorkshire to relax?

I love the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. It is such a tranquil and beautiful place.

Where is your favourite place to eat in Yorkshire, and what dish do you recommend?

Haven’t found a favourite yet – any recommendations?

What do you miss most about Yorkshire when you are away?

The village I live in (Southowram) looks out over the Calder Valley and the views are stunning.  That is what I miss the most.
